Naija Tennis Special can
authoritatively report that a new tennis clinic, where youngsters are
being tutored, is currently running at the National Stadium, Surulere,
Lagos.
According to respected tennis coach, Kayode Savage, who is the
coordinator of the training sessions for the kids, the tennis clinic
had been in the offing for sometime, but he had to start when everything
was set.
In a chat with Naija Tennis Special, Kay-K, as he is fondly
called, explained that, "the summer clinic is just a sample of what we
are trying to do.
The summer clinic which started last weekend, will end on 27 August
"We are looking at a situation where we can discover youngsters at a really tender age. "We
started on July 27 and it will run for a month. The trainings hold from
9am-12pm daily and we shall enjoin parents who are interested in
building future stars to enrol their children," he said.
On how the parents can
enrol their wards/children, Savage, who coaches Mary-Love Edwards-
arguably Nigeria's best young talent- stated that, "It's a token of
N10,000 for the entire duration.
"Presently, there are about 12 children and we are expecting many more to come and register before the end of the clinic," he added.
The
vastly-experienced coach also believes that with such trainings,
Nigeria's future may have been secured in the game of tennis.
