Junior ITF Circuit: Irish-based Obasoto Crushes Top Seed As Bulus Seeks Q/Final Slot

Nigeria's tupsy turvy performance at the ongoing Junior ITF Circuit in Togo continued on Tuesday as some of the players advanced to the third round while some could not move beyond the second round of the tournament.

According to information reaching Naija Tennis Special, most of the Nigerian players who played on Tuesday were dumped out, including number two seed; Oyinlomo Quadri, who was expected to dominate the championship across the three legs.

Martins and Matthew Abamu, Michael Osewa and Omotayo Bamidele were also casualties on the second day of the second leg of the Junior ITF Circuit.

But Adebola Obasoto and Christopher Bulus have kept the fire burning for team Nigeria as they have defied all odds to advance to the third round of the ITF championship which will climax next week.

While Bulus, in his fiery, crushed Togo's Alipoe Tchotchodji 6-0, 6-0, Obasoto was responsible for the scalp of the tournament's number 9 seed, Aziz Helali from Tunisia, winning 7-6(2), 5-7, 6-2.

Both players have now advanced to the third round of the ITF tournament to garner more points and push up their places on the rankings.

Obasoto looks worn out after a match. He will fancy his chance against the number 8 seed in his next match.
While Bulus has moved about 93 places upwards to currently rank 779 best tennis player in the world, Obasoto ranks 1184 with his 30 points and has moved about 370 places and may end the tournament as a top 700 or 800 player if he wins.

Bulus will fancy his chances against Vansh Baghtani of India when they trade tackles on Wednesday just as Obasoto will seek to create another upset when he takes on Alex Cyrille Lago, the tournament's number eight seed from Cote D'Ivoire.
