'NCC Tennis League Quality Is Equal To Grand Slams'

The ongoing NCC Tennis League has been rated in the same league as Grand Slams that are being played all over the world.

According to Boma Iyaye, the Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Nigerians do not necessarily have to go travel to watch the annual Governor's Cup in Lagos (where top world stars put up top tennis actions).

He noted at the Port Harcourt Club over the weekend, that the impact of the NCC Tennis League is synonymous to what is experienced at the grand slams.

Joseph Imeh is one of the shining stars of this year's NCC Tennis League.
"Some of us who like to go to Lagos to watch good tennis at the Governor's Cup would have no need to travel again as the standard we saw here is equal to what we see at the Grand Slams.

"Also this league is really engaging and empowering our youth because the young boys and girls you see here playing or watching can not be involved in crimes because their time is well spent. Taking this kind of tennis to 12 cities with the huge prize monies is wonderful," Iyaye stated.

The Sports administrator also added that: "I therefore commend the NCC for this historic investment in our youth and the organisers for a wonderful job."

The third season of the NCC Tennis League is nearing its end as Team Muller already confirmed their place in the semis of the money-spinning year-long tennis championship.
