Abamu, Marylove, Oyinlomo Lead Team Nigeria To AJC Qualifiers In Togo (Photos)

Nigerian Tennis Live can confirm that the trio of Matthew Abamu, Marylove Edwards and Oyinlomo Barakat are among the top Nigerian players to represent the country at the Africa Junior Tennis Championship qualifiers taking place in Togo.

Our correspondent had reported last week, that the players were in camp, training at the National Stadium, Surulere, ahead of the big test which will commence on Monday, 8 January, 2018, under the watchful eyes of Coaches Ubale Mohammed, Abel Ubiebi and Margaret Olagunjoye.

After the drilling by the coaches, the players were selected by Coach Ubale, the national junior coach, and they all traveled to the neighbouring West African state with Coach 'Maggi' as the assistant instructor of the Nigerian side.

The players will be competing in the Under 14 and 16 age grade championship in the boys and girls categories during the weeklong qualification series.

Iye Onoja also made the cut to Togo to represent the country at the AJC qualifiers.
Among the players who made the cut are Matthew Abamu, Musa Sani, Gabriel Friday (Boys U-16); Suleiman Ibrahim, Usman Kushimo, Canice Abua (Boys U-14); Ozi Oiza Yakubu, Rebecca Ekpeyong, Oyinlomo Barakat (Girls U-16).

Others include Iye Onoja, Marylove Edwards and Reha Holmes in the Girls 14&U age category as the team look forward to a huge success at the qualifiers.

US-based Marylove Edwards is poised to make a statement at the AJC qualifiers this week.
The Nigerian contingent will hope to show their prowess and strength on the African soil when hostilities resume at the qualifying series on Monday.
