AJC Qualifiers: Nigerian Brothers Clash In Semis After Outstanding Performances

The ongoing African Junior Tennis Championship qualifiers has pitched Nigerian brothers against one another in the semi finals of the Boys' 14 &U and 16 &U.

Nigerian Tennis Live had reported that the Nigerian player were fantastic in their opening matches of the qualifying series, a development which has moved them to within touching distance of their title defence.

In the quarter final matches, Mathew Abamu was responsible for the scalp of Cameroon's Wamba Paul, defeating him flatly 6-3, 6-1 just as number three seed, Gabriel Friday, knocked out Outtara Suleiman in two straight sets of 6-2, 6-0.

Oyinlomo Barakat who is the number one seed of the girls' U-16, taught Houngbo Frida from Benin Republic some tennis lessons, winning convincingly in a 6-0, 6-1.

Marylove Edwards who is also the number one seed knocked out Noudogbessi Rodia 6-0, 6-0 just as Usman Kushimo handed Ghana's Okine Richard a 6-2, 6-2 defeat while Nigeria's proved too strong for Adzokatse Kenneth from Ghana, winning 7-5, 6-3.

Abamu and Gabriel will slug it out for a place in the finals of the boys' U-16 while Kushimo and Suleiman will battle each other for a place in the final of the boys' U-14.
