GSL Open: Nigeria's Sylvester Faces Stern French Test In First Main Draw Clash

Tom Jomby will provide Nigeria's Sylvester Emmanuel a major test to prove how good a player he is when the pair square up in one of the early first round matches at the GSL Open in Abuja, Nigeria's federal capital.

Sylvester, a wild card entrant, has not been able to progress beyond the first round of any of the first two legs of the ITF Futures which ends this week, as he failed to qualify from the pre-qualifying series in the second leg and fell short in the first leg.

Major will have to be at his best this morning.
This week presents the Spain-based former Nigerian number one the opportunity to salvage some ATP points to enable him play in other ITF Futures where he can also grow through the ranks.

Other Nigerian players in the Singles main draw will have to wait until Tuesday, 1 May, before playing their first matches of the GSL Open which ends on 5 May.

In the Doubles event, Ireland-based Adebola Obasoto will partner Christian Paul to take on another Nigeria pair of Emmanuel Audu and Michael Michael while another Nigerian pair; Chinedu Emmanuel and Kesiye Maxwell will partner to take on Danes Alexandru and Flores Fernandez Diego.

Other matches involving Nigerian players will see Sylvester partner Alexis Klegou to spar against Hugo Largo and Mirko Martinez while Emmanuel Idoko will pair Argentine Feitt to square up against Aryan Goveas and Anurag Nenwani.

Nigerian Tennis Live will bring you updates from the matches and other interesting happenings from the event.
