Lagos Open: 'Fighting' Oyinlomo Loses Second Round Tie To Top Ukranian Seed

She put up a fight and caused a major scare, but that was how far she could go in her second round tie against the Ukranian number three seed. Nigeria's Oyinlomo Quadre lost in two hard fought sets of 2-6, 3-6 to Valeriya Strakhova in the second round match at the ongoing Lagos Open International Tennis Championships.

It was the biggest test yet for the young Nigerian tennis starlet since she began her tennis career, and the world's number 398 junior player was out to make a point against the top 300 Ukranian star, and make a point she did.

Oyinlomo Quadre put up a fight in the match but was still beaten by the Ukranian star.
The first set was pretty much a contest between the pair with the Nigerian starlet and the top seed breaking each other in unbelievable fashion to keep the game well balanced at 2-2.

But Strakhova's experience came to play against Oyinlomo who just returned from a four-week Junior ITF Circuit and the Ukranian dealt the youngster a big blow to survive a major scare on a sunny afternoon.

With this result, all the Nigerian players in the Singles event of the competition have been effectively sent packing and only have a handful in the doubles which continues on Thursday, 4 October inside the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos.
